The Good Old Days & Classic Propliners
Listed below are all the books currently available. Each one is a meticulously researched pictorial history of aviation, featuring high-quality Kodachrome photographs spanning the 1950s through to the present day.
The Good Old Days now runs to ten volumes, each covering a particular air arm, airfield or group of squadrons. Classic Propliners in Colour is a brand new series that takes a single classic airliner per volume and shows it in the liveries of operators around the world, starting with the Vickers Viking. Alongside these sits the standalone title From Pistons to Jets, a look at Britain's changing skies through the 1950s.
All books are published and available via Blurb. Whilst this makes them a little expensive, you never usually have to pay the full asking price as discounts are available most of the time.

The 1950s was arguably the most interesting period in the history of commercial aviation, as the decade ushered in a host of innovative designs as well as introducing the jet engine to revolutionise the market. This volume traces the shift from wartime surplus types such as the Douglas DC-3 through the great propliners and on to the first jets, the de Havilland Comet and Boeing 707, with aircraft captured at Heathrow (then London Air Port), Croydon, Gatwick, Prestwick, Blackbushe and Filton.

I know of few if any other publications which can rival the Good Old Days series for sheer visual punch, backed by succinct but relevant and useful information presented in an attractive format. Cannot be recommended highly enough, at any price. Steve generously provides a full preview on Blurb so it is not difficult to see what I am enthusing about.
It would be easy to categorise this wonderful work into a coffee table book bracket, but that would be doing a great disservice to Steve's months of research. I prefer to think it is a snapshot in time. And, what a breathtaking snapshot from a glorious time!

It's not only the sheer quality of the illustrations which are second to none, but the smart way you lay these books out with the accompanying information, just enough to serve the purpose but not so much as to spoil the visual appeal.
